How your briefing is built
Horizon searches for your edition, chosen city and topics, then combines matching articles. Recent reporting, your followed sources, factual-rating preference and article access affect the order. The broader mixes reduce repeated ownership without removing the other reporting.
Independent & local first also searches a rotating selection of registered outlets where supported, while keeping an unrestricted search. It gives a modest boost to sources registered as independent, nonprofit, cooperative, local, regional or academic. That is an ownership and publication-type preference, not a guarantee of accuracy.
Related headlines are grouped by text similarity. They can cover different aspects of an event; they are not proof of agreement, independent verification or opposing viewpoints. A publisher’s location does not prove a story is local.
Your selected place and interests reach the search services used to retrieve coverage. Horizon does not send them your precise browser coordinates, save a personal profile or track which stories you read. Feed preferences are stored only in this browser; the News feed does not cache queries on disk.
Coverage, dates, translations and source assessments can be incomplete. Ratings come from Media Bias Fact Check; open a story’s source details for attribution. No automated feed can promise an absence of bias.
